what a fantastic podcast. I'm sure so many of us mums can relate to this. The statistics are so heavy in the number of mums who miscarry. 10.8% of the population of women in the UK suffer a miscarriage. That's 20 in 100 pregnancies. That's a huge amount of loss. Who is supporting these parents through that loss?I remember going to the GP after one of my miscarriages and telling them I felt numb and terribly sad and the doctor said to me "but it was only a miscarriage, you haven't lost a baby". It absolutely broke my heart and for a moment I believed what they said. (how dare I feel grief?!). This is still happening. As soon as you see that pregnancy test come up as YOU ARE PREGNANT, that's it, everything changes. What you eat, what you drink, what you wear. Your thought process is completely taken over by "I am having a baby". When a miscarriage happens it's heart breaking for both mum and dad, it doesn't matter at what stage that loss happened, that baby mattered.Don't ever feel guilty for feeling sad, empty or lost. These are natural feelings when you suffer loss. Talk about your baby, how you felt and feel. Don't hide your feelings. People don't talk enough unfortunately. I didn't talk and I wish I had. I suffered 10 miscarriages, some of them I got past 20 weeks, I knew the sex and I bonded with that baby. Why was I never acknowledged by the system. This is why Mothers Matter exists. We can support you through this time of grief and loss. We support mums and dads. We are here for you. Do not walk this journey alone.Thankyou Giovanna Fletcher and @coleenrooney for raising such an important topic. #babyloss #miscarriage #support #wearehere #youarenotalone ... See MoreSee Less
