Talking Therapy

Talking therapy is a general term to describe sessions talking with a trained therapist.

During these sessions, individuals are helped to understand and work through their thoughts, feelings, and behaviour. Talking therapy can help individuals identify and understand patterns and help them develop new ways of coping with difficult situations.

Talking therapy can help individuals develop new perspectives, improve communication skills, and increase self-awareness.

Why Talking Therapy works

Talking therapy sessions are a supportive, non-judgemental and safe space where people can:

  • express and understand feelings, emotions and behaviour patterns
  • develop new coping strategies
  • gain insight into underlying issues
  • develop new perspectives and overcome challenges
  • improve mental health
  • increase resilience
  • build stronger relationships

Talking Therapy Sessions

A talking therapist is a trained professional who helps individuals understand how they feel and the actions that result from those feelings. They use a variety of techniques and approaches to help individuals address a wide range of emotional and psychological issues.

Talking therapy helps develop new perspectives, improve communication skills, and increase self-awareness. Essential in the mental health field, talking therapists help people improve their quality of life, and overcome various challenges they may face. They provide a supportive, non-judgmental and safe space to express themselves.

By gaining insight into underlying issues and developing new coping strategies, therapy sessions help people to:

  • improve mental health
  • increase resilience
  • build a more fulfilling life

Mothers Matter offer local support to mothers during pregnancy through to motherhood
