Delivering social change in our community, Mothers Matter from South Wales secures support and funding from UnLtd to help build lasting social impact
Mothers Matter is proud to announce our award from UnLtd, the UK’s foundation for social entrepreneurs. The award’s funding and tailored business support will significantly help perinatal and postnatal women to get the support they need and enable doors to open to them to build a happier and healthier future with their baby and families, offering listening and support services, this will have positive social impact for the mothers, families and the community.
Mothers Matter to everyone. Our aim is to offer all pregnant women, Mother’s and their family’s guidance, advise, listening opportunities and support from the first trimester through to when Mum is ready to leave us.• what problems it looks to solve, and why that is urgent / important at this time.Our service has been developed to stop women suffering alone during pregnancy, during labour and once the baby is born. Our service aims to reduce Perinatal depression, PPD, birth trauma, anxiety, depression and PND• who is involvedWe currently stand at 2 Directors, 2 counsellors, 2 supports workers and 2 trustees.
The service will be offered around south Wales, at the moment our main sourse of referrals comes within RCT. We are hoping this brings people in the community closer together, offering coffee mornings, workshops and Antenatal classes. Our aim is to bring people together to stop isolation and Depression. Katy Thomas & Cheryl Cawte, Mothers Matter CIC, said: “UnLtd have enabled us to build and get the knowledge of our charity out there, without their help we wouldn’t have been able to start making a change to people’s lives.”
